BETAL STORIE JAYA-VIJAYA

 JAYA-VIJAYA

Vikram didn't leave his attempt. He fur ther entered the cremation ground and saw the corpse hanging on the old tree. H marched on to the gnarled tree and snapped off the rope that bound the corpse to the branch. He threw the corpse across his shoul der and walked back. The Bethal spoke "Vikram! you are unnecessarily putting your effort to take me. Why can't you go to palace and live in peace."

Vikram didn't speak. Bethal told him one more story to kill time.

"Vikram! Once upon a time there lived two brothers in a town. One was Jaya, the other was Vijaya. Jaya was elder. They were lov ing each other.

One day both of them entered a beautiful garden. They had gone on picnic. There were lot of flowering trees and plants in the gar den. The flowers were colourful and fragrant.

They saw at one place a beautiful lady. She was young. Jaya felt that she might have come from heaven. Both the brothers saw her and identified her house. Her house was very close to the garden.

Jaya and Vijaya were walking in the street where her house was situated. After some time they saw on old lady in front of her house. With little courage they approached the

lady and asked her to whom the house belongs. The old lady replied them that it belongs to the young girl and they may see her in the garden next day.

Jaya Vijaya were helpless. Next day early in the morning they were ready to go to the garden. Jaya went to garden with out inform ing Vijaya. By that time the young girl had come there and she was enjoying the scenic beauty of the nature. Jaya approached her and asked her who she is.

She informed him that her name is Chaya. Jaya told her that he is intending to marry her. Chaya asked the reason.

"You are looking very beautiful. I have not seen such a very beautiful girl best before. That's why I liked you" Jaya replied.

"Look, It is all illusion. I am not beautiful I have applied different colours to my face. Hence I am looking beautiful. Now I will re move the colours. Then you saw my face" she told and she removed the colours applied on her face

her face. Jaya saw her. The beauty had gone. Disappointed he didn't speak anything. He returned to his house. Next day Vijaya met Chaya in the samegarden. I Would like to marry you. Will you be come my wife?" he asked Chaya.

Chaya told him that she is not beautiful and she removed her make up. Then she was not looking beautiful. But Vijaya said that he has not loved her appraising her beauty. "You may not be beautiful. But you are having good qualities. You are behaving well. That's why I have liked you" he said. Chaya agreed to marry him.

Vijaya returned home and informed his brother that he met Chaya and he has decided to marry her. Jaya was surprised to know it. However the marriage took place on an aus picious day. But Chaya looked still beautiful after marriage. Vijaya asked her the reason.

"I always look beautiful. That is my rea face" She said. Vijaya asked her then why did she show her ugly face.

"That's only due to the application O colours. I intended to know who will like my qualities than my beauty. That's why I showed my ugly face. You did't worry about my beauty. You liked my nature. So I decided to marry" She replied.

Vijaya was happy. The couple lived hap pily. But Jaya desired to know the real thing. He was curious. Once he decided to marry Chaya and in order to do that he intended to kill his younger brother. Vijaya observed his changed behaviour and grasped Jaya's evil in tention. He did n't delay. One day he killed Jaya.

The news spreads like jetforce fire in the town. No body believed it. People were aware that the brothers were loving each other. They felt that such things cannot happen.

The king of the town arrested Vijaya for the crime he made and he was handed over to judi cial custody. In the court Vijaya fearlessly told the truth. The Judge gave the verdict.

Bethal asked Vikram: "Oh king! you have heard the story. Now you tell me. What was the verdict? Was Vijaya punished or released. You know the correct answer. But still if you do not open your mouth your head will cut off into thousand pieces."

Vikram thought for a while.

"Bethal! Justice must have released Vijaya Because the Judge would be knowing which is right and which is wrong. How can the beauty of the body remain for a long period? But the beauty of the mind and one's knowl edge will remain for ever. Vijaya has done right. He killed his brother and it is lawful. He decided to marry Chaya which is also correct."

Vikram had opened his mouth and he also spoke. Bethal slipped off from his shoulder and glided back on the tree.
